Charles Robinson
Charles Robinson has nearly 30 years experience in helping companies strategically improve their manufacturing operations.
He began his extensive consulting career in Houston, Texas, advising major oil companies in their operations and maintenance strategies. He worked on various international and domestic projects developing operations plans, maintenance plans, start-up plans, and logistical support systems.
Charles also spent several years developing a consulting divisions to help companies improve their equipment reliability and maintainability and trained in Japan under Seiichi Nakajima and Kunio Shirose of the Japanese Institute for Plant Maintenance.
In the early 90s he formed his own Consulting Group dedicated to helping companies strategically improve their manufacturing operations and worked with many companies implementing their versions of the Toyota Production System. He went on to join forces with other independent consultants to form Total Systems Development, Inc. In the past five years, Charles has been in Asia and Australia helping shoe manufacturing companies and mining companies adopt the principles of lean manufacturing.
Mr. Robinson has developed a national reputation as an expert in the Toyota Production System and in developing corporate strategies in lean manufacturing. Mr. Robinson has co-authored the book “Total Productive Maintenance: The North American Experience”. He was also lead author in the book “Lean Manufacturing – A Plant Floor Guide”.
